ULGA announces massive voter outreach campaign

Friend,

Did you know that for the first time in 20 years Black voter turnout fell in 2016? The 2020 election is too important to ignore. At the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, we see firsthand how sound, equitable policies can ensure Black people can take control of their economic success and build a solid financial foundation for future generations. We want to make sure Black citizens vote in record numbers.

That’s why we’re excited to share some great news! The Urban League of Greater Atlanta is partnering with Cox Media Group and 10 top stations for Black Radio United for the Vote, –an effort to register 50,000 Black voters – in collaboration with a number of respected grassroots, civic, and faith-based organizations, business leaders and elected officials.

On July 23, Aug. 20, and Sept. 17, the Urban League, the 10 stations, and our partners will provide critical voter education on the big issues of our time through messaging and exclusive interviews between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. We will also urge full participation in the 2020 Census. The stations include KISS, MAJIC, V103, STREETS, HOT, WAOK, PRAISE, WCLK, OG, and CLASSIX.

Campaign partners to-date are the 2020 U.S. Census, ACLU of Georgia, Atlanta Counts Census 2020, Black Man Lab, Georgia Coalition for the People’s Agenda, Georgia Legislative Black Caucus, Georgia NAACP, Metro Atlanta NAACP, Millennial Civil Rights, National Action Network, National Panhellenic Council of Georgia, New Georgia Project, Operation PUSH, Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, The Gathering Spot, and several elected officials. Organizations interested in joining our collaboration should contact Viveka Bizzell-Palmer at viveka@ulgatl.org.

If you or someone you know is not registered to vote or are unclear about your voter status, please visit myvotecountsga.com to get signed up. To learn more about this effort, visit blackradiounited.com.

Stay tuned for more information about this important initiative. Remember: When we vote, we count.
