Reports To: Director of Finance 

Status: Full-Time/Exempt 

The Urban League of Greater Atlanta has an immediate opening for a senior accountant with a proven track record of working with partners, clients, and internal team members to achieve results. This includes maintaining accounting records and internal controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to AR and AP. Must enjoy working as part of a team. 


  • 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting 
  • QuickBooks experience 
  • Experienced full-cycle accounting 


  • Must be able to demonstrate and communicate experience in all areas of responsibilities. 
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel 
  • Ability to learn and work with finance and accounting software platforms. 
  • Ability to breakdown complex information into manageable parts, ask questions, synthesize, and analyze. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Works well with the team and independently. 
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) 
  • Ability to thrive and respond upon request in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Non-profit agency accounting and grant experience is highly preferred.

  • Lead monthly grant budget to actual expense meetings with managers. 
  • Responsible for recording all cash receipts and tracking restricted cash daily. 
  • Responsible for reconciling agency bank accounts, PayPal accounts, and credit card accounts. 
  • Responsible for general ledger maintenance and balance sheet account analysis. 
  • Prepare payroll funding analysis. 
  • Prepare a bi-monthly federal drawdown package. 
  • Work closely with the resource development manager to ensure that accounting, tracking, and reporting of donations and grants are accurate. 
  • Work with the team to support the collection of grant-related receivables. 
  • Special Projects & Other Tasks as assigned. 
  • Effectively and timely answer inquiries from employees and vendors regarding financial matters. 
  • Assist in preparing for the annual audit. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 


  • Continuously improve and effectively communicate all accounting processes; must be cable of training staff and others. 
  • Play a role in the implementation of process and systems improvements. 


  • Will be jointly accountable for grant accounting, including but not limited to grant invoicing, keeping in compliance with CFR2 uniform guidance.

Salary: 65-70k.

Pay: $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
