Amazing. Inspiring. Awesome. Motivating. Enlightening. Moving. The best yet!
These and other superlatives are among the ways attendees have described the Urban League of Greater Atlanta’s 2016 Equal Opportunity Day Dinner and Gala held on Saturday, November 19th. If you were among those in attendance, you know why the event generated such praise. If you missed it, please click on the link below to virtually “be there” to hear four young men who benefit from the League’s programs describe our impact.
And you will hear Mayor Kasim Reed declare that he and other regional leaders honored with him as Men of Empowerment and Distinction were certainly important. But, he said, they took a back seat to the four young program honorees who are uplifting themselves and their families through the opportunities the League and its supporters provide.
As 2016 draws to a close, I am pleased to take this time to thank you for all that you do to help the Urban League extend its programs in education and training, career advancement, housing and finance, civic engagement, life skills, small business development and more to men, women and youth throughout the region.
The EOD dinner gave many people a deeper understanding of what the Greater Atlanta Urban League means to the growth and stability of the region; and several business leaders approached me after the event to pledge their intent to begin or to increase their support. I hope I can depend on you to do the same, as we recognize the ongoing importance of leveling the playing field for our neighbors, not only because it’s the right thing to do but because all of us are better off when everyone has a chance to live up to their highest potential.
Again, please enjoy the video from our spectacular EOD. I wish you a warm and happy holiday season and look forward to partnering with you in 2017.
Sincerely,
Nancy Flake Johnson
