The Urban League of Greater Atlanta (ULGA) partners with employers in various industries to bridge the gap between talent ready ULGA Participants and employers that seek provide career opportunities in both public and private sectors. In addition, we partner with employers to host Career Forums. Our career forums allow our partnering employers to conduct informational sessions and actively recruit for open positions within their company. During the 2012- 2013 fiscal year, The Urban League of Greater Atlanta hosted 21 hiring events. Many of the companies, that partnered with ULGA this year provided a platform that allowed the ULGA team to conduct pre-screening/ assessments and as a result 380 ULGA participants were pre-screened and assessed for employment opportunities. A total of 318 ULGA participants of those 380 were referred to employment within various industries.

The ULGA Workforce Team works diligently to ensure that all ULGA participants are employment ready. We conducted 33 Mock Interview sessions with a total of 215 participants attending those sessions. Additionally we work closely, with employers to facilitate corporate sponsored Mock Interview Sessions. This year a total of 4 employer volunteer-led mock interview sessions were held with a total of 85 ULGA Participants attending those events. Each participant attending those events were provided professional attire to insure they are ready to interview.

Step UP to Work’s impact during the 2012-2013 year has proven to be extraordinary. The ULGA Workforce Team has put a total of 104 participants back to work this year. The retention rate for our participants after 90 days is 98.81 %. With the average participant wage being $12.64 per/hour.

A 29 year old African-American Female ,unemployed for  11 months came to the Urban of Greater Atlanta in March of 2013 for service. During those 11 months, she was the caregiver to a terminally ill relative for 6 months and the other 5 months she sought employment with other Career Centers but she was unsuccessful. In April, she attended the David Scott Career Fair where she provided her resume to the ULGA Workforce Team. She was then recruited to attend a HOME DEPOT hiring event. She completed the assessment in August was interviewed and was extended a job offer by the HOME DEPOT on August 20, 2013 as a Human Resources  Contact Center Associate Full-time.
