Develop talent to serve! Our VISTA will research human resource trends to design and craft a staff retention plan and training academy. Great opportunity to exercise business principles in a nonprofit.
Program Description: The Urban League of Greater Atlanta’s mission has been all about economic empowerment since we opened our doors more than a century ago. We are recognized as a dedicated, person to person organization committed to the economic advancement of African Americans and other under-served communities in the metropolitan area. We meet and evaluate people where they are and help them set economic advancement goals, equip them with what they need and elevate them to where they want to go to build household income and wealth. We are joined by a robust coalition of committed stakeholders to include corporate, private, civic, community, faith-based, civil rights, and individual supporters that are strongly invested in the economic success of urban communities across metropolitan Atlanta and the state. Our Financial Empowerment and Emergency Relief Center (FEERC) delivers integrated economic mobility services to youth, adults, families, and small businesses.
Member Duties: Today’s talent force is equipped with specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that enable organizations to go further and do more with less than what was required a generation ago. As such, non-profits like the Urban League of Greater Atlanta (ULGA), too are shifting its talent strategy to align with a modern operational model that can serve more and perform better without increasing staff. To achieve this, ULGA in partnership with the Americorps VISTA program has created a service opportunity to analyze the existing operational structure and recommend a new operational strategy that can meet today’s demands while retaining tomorrows talent needs.
The Americorps VISTA member will review internal compliance policies and procedures to assess risk, gaps, and vulnerabilities and develop a policy and procedure manual that use current HR and field research that serves to safeguard the organization and its staff. In addition, to support staff development needs, the member will also design a virtual talent development and training academy that supports staff performance and career interest.
