Nancy Flake Johnson, president and CEO of the Urban League of Greater Atlanta, and John Moye, the agency’s Senior Director of Legislative Policy, Social Justice & Civic Engagement, were recognized on the floor of the Georgia House of Representatives during a Juneteenth commemoration on June 20, 2026. Legislators cited the League’s contributions to families, small businesses and communities across the state of Georgia.

They also highlighted the League’s seminal publication The State of Black Georgia Report: A Tale of Two States. The report serves as a vital resource for policymakers, government leaders, and community organizations as they work to address gaps in wealth, health, education, and social justice.

Ms. Hamilton was the first female president of the Atlanta Urban League and the first Black woman elected to the Georgia General Assembly, building a legacy that continues to inspire progress toward a fairer Georgia for all.
