Build bridges; increase impact. Our VISTA will develop a college and career ecosystem for youth and strengthen holistic service delivery through partnerships. Ideal for mission minded influencers.

Program Description: The Urban League of Greater Atlanta’s mission has been all about economic empowerment since we opened our doors more than a century ago. We are recognized as a dedicated, person to person organization committed to the economic advancement of African Americans and other under-served communities in the metropolitan area. We meet and evaluate people where they are and help them set economic advancement goals, equip them with what they need and elevate them to where they want to go to build household income and wealth. We are joined by a robust coalition of committed stakeholders to include corporate, private, civic, community, faith-based, civil rights, and individual supporters that are strongly invested in the economic success of urban communities across metropolitan Atlanta and the state. Our Financial Empowerment and Emergency Relief Center (FEERC) delivers integrated economic mobility services to youth, adults, families, and small businesses.

Member Duties: Preparing today’s youth and young adults for tomorrow’s workforce requires a concerted effort for service providers. This process necessitates the development of ecosystem collaborations (or partnerships) across public agencies, and between public and private organizations. These partnerships are essential to the quality of services provided and to meeting the overall performance goals of the College and Career Center model. Hence, this service opportunity has been created for an AmeriCorps VISTA member with a passion for creating college bridges and career pathways for underserved youth/young adults.

The AmeriCorps VISTA member will design an ecosystem for youth and young adults that support post-secondary preparation, peaks career interests and builds career readiness, mitigates common youth/young adult risk factors and fosters urban resilience.  The member will also develop a guide for community partners who collaborate with these youth and young adults.
