The Atlanta Jewish Film Festival in partnership with The Urban League of Greater Atlanta celebrates the legacy of Atlanta’s first black mayor with a special presentation of the inspiring new documentary, Maynard. Produced in partnership with the Atlanta Black-Jewish Coalition, this screening event is part of AJFF Connects, a year-round programming initiative that uses the power of film to build bridges of understanding and spark dialogue with diverse audiences.
Join us at Regal Atlantic Station on Thursday, June 28th at 7:00 PM for this cinematic profile of Maynard Holbrook Jackson Jr., with an introduction to the film by filmmakers Wendy Eley Jackson and Maynard Jackson III.
A post-film Q&A will be moderated by former head of American Jewish Committee Atlanta, Sherry Frank, and featuring guests civic leader Elaine Alexander, Chairperson of the National Council of Negro Women, Ingrid Saunders Jones, and author of The Legend of the Black Mecca: Politics and Class in the Making of Modern Atlanta, Maurice Hobson.
There will also be an aftershow mix-and-mingle at Meehan’s Public House.
